1920-2020. Giuseppe Zanotti’s Fall Winter 2017 collection takes a step back in time, journeying through to present day and building bridges from the past to the contemporary. The great voyages, the Roaring Twenties, the discovery of an unexplored taste for the exotic, influences from the Asian continent and a new artistic freedom of expression are reflected not only in architecture and design, but also in a new take on fashion itself.
It sees a sequence of different stimuli set at a steady pace, like the scenes of a film. The overlying influences find an easy union with spontaneous reflections and re-workings, giving rise to styles full of rhythm, which are characterised by the choice of materials and colours used: soft velvets, luxe stretch fabrics, lurex, silk satins, mink, feathers and marabou plumes. All of these are interpreted in nuances of black, burgundy, powder pink and purple. Nothing is static, and everything evolves to perfection in an endless cycle.
DANIELLE. Art deco influences are given an exotic feel by fashioning a suede sandal with gold leaves and silk ties made for wrapping softly around the ankle. The special column heel reveals an unusual effect created by the opposites: Stability combined with an elegant silhouette.
HARMONY WINTER. The iconic Harmony sandal has for years been a Zanotti favorite. For FW17, it is updated with fur trim which sees a tongue-in-cheek nod to the iconic feather boa of the 1920s.
CHARLESTON. Giuseppe Zanotti takes a leap into a smoky jazz club in 1920s Paris. Marabou feathers and delicate crystals make for the perfect combination of past nostalgia and modern creativity.
ELAINE. The nude and crystal stiletto bathes the evening in alluring light. The brand’s passion for jewels has long been nurtured by tradition and experience. The result is a masterpiece of all-Italian technique and craftsmanship: a dazzling-web that encompasses the foot.
CANDLE. The black sequined boot cloaks the leg like a pair of leggings. The new minimal flat silhouette, finished with an unexpected flourish, is designed for the modern flapper girl.
KAMILYA. An androgynous shape inspired by turn-of-the-century elegance, this new take on the classic lace-up bootie is in black satin. The special edition style is characterised by a sinuous, refined silhouette and a sophisticated choice of material.
PICARD GOLD. Asian influences are apparent in this black suede peep-toe wedge with a sculpted heel in gilded metal. The elongated, tapered form is almost suspended in mid-air, evoking the sinuous gait of women from a bygone era.
NATY. Wistful inspiration is drawn from days gone by. The classic 1920s turban is given a contemporary twist for the sneaker, with a disproportionate bow adding movement to the lurex fabric with a romantic-retro style cut.
THE DAZZLING KIM. A cascade of multi-shaped crystals and embroidery creates an artful light effect on the soft, lightweight silk velvet slippers.
VELVET RUNNER. The signature running shoe is re-imagined in black velvet with contrasting soles and metallic side zips. The soles-flocked finish creates unexpected interest.
Giuseppe Zanotti’s FW17 collection would not be complete without stunning signature accessories, which elevate every outfit:
GINNY. New clutches are introduced in shades of black, burgundy and purple, as well as a speckled finish. The innovative shape’s slighter proportions are enhanced by a metal plaque, which combines seamlessly with the bag’s artful curved effect.
NOEMI. The Liberty-inspired choker features an explosion of bright crystals, perfect for illuminating the neckline and bedazzling all evening in true Great Gatsby style.
THE DAZZLING AMELIA. When gemstones and crystals meet velvet, even a biker jacket becomes an elegant evening garment.
