For Autumn Winter 2017 Jimmy Choo looks within to conjure a collection that encapsulates the recurring theme of duality that is at the heart of the brand. That spirit is the embodiment of Yin and Yang, tough but soft, feminine and powerful; she is a woman with an innate confidence. This is a collection with a strong sense of refined, modern glamour in which the twin pillars of rebel and romance play against each other in visual melodies defined by fur pom-pom, metallic suede, painted snakeskin, studded hardware and leopard print.
Jimmy Choo was founded 21 years ago in London, at the height of the city’s cool Britannia indie-led ‘90s cultural boom. For this collection Creative Director, Sandra Choi, looked back to this formative time to inform this one.
“This season is a particularly pure expression of Jimmy Choo. We’ve focused on the codes that define us; the confidence, the sexiness, the playfulness and the glamour employed with signature leopard and studs in surprising manifestations. But as well as looking back we look forward by using unexpected modern fabrications that combine lightness with a sensually glossy finish lending some of the pieces a sci-fi sleekness. The fundamental essence of Jimmy Choo lies in its attitude blended with beauty and this season has it in abundance.”
Dynamic silhouettes create fresh perspectives; heels explore sturdier proportions and flats are presented in iterations that range from elegant pointy toes to chunky soled boots realised in shades of mink, fire, moonstone, bottle green, storm and vino.
High cut pumps appear in a myriad of guise; the LARK topped with a double twisted ankle strap punctuated with flattened metal studs and its dressier sister, LUX , decorated with a statement ankle cuff in cut crystal. The LETTY balances a pointy toe with an oversized buckle fastening for a sleek and minimal aesthetic in fire red suede and sheer polka dot mesh lending a whisper of ladylike punk attitude.
The MOON heeled pump features a cuff detail that shields the upper arch with a velvet embrace, a side buckle detail creating a tactile bridle for the ankle. The THERESA is a mistress of illusion, there’s a sense of volume created by the asymmetric low and high cut that both covers and reveals at once.
The LORRAINE, a second skin thigh boot and the ankle length LOUELLA are realised in a sumptuous crushed velvet and black high gloss techno fabric.
The BREEZE encapsulates the rebellious mood of the season with a lugged sole boot, presented in ballet pink velvet and leopard print lending an aura of femininity to this tough silhouette. The BLANCHE is a low top interpretation imbued with rebel innocence.
The LOCKETT and ARROW bag adopt the season’s signatures playing with textures dressed in tonal print black devoré leopard, studs and velvet as well as envy inducing green painted snake.
For evening, the CHANDRA clutch features a crystal cut bracelet that cinches the bag closed creating a bow silhouette with a sense of playful glamour. The CHARLEY is an oversized unstructured clutch with gold bangle detail that serves as a circular closure.
