La Martina Autumn Winter 2017

News | Products | 5 October 2017

La Martina’s Autumn Winter 2017 collection takes cues from the cradle of polo — India. Popular in Central Asia, the sport of polo rapidly spread into India among the British cavalry regiments stationed across the continent. The season’s styles fuse influences from Great Britain and India, resulting in a vibrant array of colourful prints and textiles.

Colecciòn Privada

The intimate core of the collection features casual and formalwear suitable for virtually any type of event dotting the universe of polo: from cocktail parties to post-match celebrations and formal events such as having entry to the Royal enclosure at Guards Polo Club. At first glance, the collection evokes the exotic vibe of a colonial past, during the time of the British East India Company.

Polo Player — the sporty essence of La Martina

The Polo Player collection revolves around a unique mix of passion and discipline as seen in this season’s iconic polo shirts that unfailingly represent a staple piece in the Argentine maison’s collection. Like a time machine letting us travel back in time, the collection portrays three generations of polo players from the US:

New York, 1940s — Polo shirts feature micro-patterns in neutral colours and military detailing, which symbolise the delicate balance between the rigour of the bygone century and the boldness of the decade to come.

Memphis, Tennessee, 1975 – Elvis Presley’s home and the birthplace of rock n’ roll — After about two decades, the second generation sports a preppy style, with polo shirts conjuring an academic aura of shimmering colours, as well as a vision of nostalgia of a bygone musical era.

Today — Leading the last and third generation, our polo player becomes a steady fixture in Ivy League institution’s polo teams. Graphics and customised details celebrate these three successful generations of polo players while embodying stylistic expertise and evolution.

Activewear & Maserati

Offering a flattering new take on urban and leisurewear, the collection includes shiny textiles with a glossy finish such as reflective nylon and acetate fabrics. Padded gilets and outerwear with an invisible foldaway hood are paired with fleece trousers, and weekend holdalls and backpacks are crafted from eco-leather fabrics and waterproof nylon twill accented by shiny, refractive details.

The partnership with Maserati continues this season, represented by an exclusive menswear capsule collection. Geometric shapes and camo-inspired prints add a sporty twist to a collection inspired by the casual interpretation of camouflage.
