Michael Kors Enlists Kate Hudson to Help Watch Hunger Stop, Launches Special-Edition Activity Tracker To Support WFP

NEW YORK July 29, 2016—In anticipation of World Food Day on October 16, Michael Kors is pleased to announce a host of initiatives to support Watch Hunger Stop, the brand’s campaign to fight global hunger. Now in its 4th year, Watch Hunger Stop has enabled the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to deliver more than 13 million meals to children in need. This year, there are more ways than ever to help build a world with zero hunger. Everyone can help—because it all adds up.

PARTNERSHIP WITH KATE HUDSON

Actress, author, entrepreneur and humanitarian Kate Hudson once again teams up with Michael Kors to support Watch Hunger Stop.  “I’m honored to continue my collaboration with Michael on this important cause,” says Hudson.  “We are all responsible for making sure the world’s children grow up healthy, happy, strong and educated and that all begins with eradicating hunger.”

 

SPECIAL-EDITION ACTIVITY TRACKER

A centerpiece of this year’s campaign will be an activity tracker specially designed to support Watch Hunger Stop. The unique piece will be sold exclusively in select Michael Kors stores and on MichaelKors.com. For each activity tracker sold, 100 meals will be donated to WFP to support school meals.* Part of the new Michael Kors Access line of wearable technology, the activity tracker has been specially designed to highlight the cause, with a sleek, understated map of the world on its white mother-of-pearl face and “Watch Hunger Stop” embossed on the leather band. It will be powered by the Michael Kors Access app, enabling you to set goals, track your steps, distance and calories burned, and monitor your sleep activity. Compatible with both iPhone and Android devices, the tracker requires no charging (thanks to a coin cell battery) and offers remote control link functionality so you can take photos, play music and find your phone. Both the men’s and women’s activity trackers will retail for SGD239, an accessible price point that makes it even easier for anyone to become an ambassador for the cause.

WATCH HUNGER STOP TIMEPIECES

Special-edition watches have been a part of the Watch Hunger Stop effort since its inception, with 100 meals donated to WFP for each watch sold.* Both the 100 Series watches, featuring the designer’s iconic Runway watch case body, and the limited-edition Bradshaw 100, feature a detailed map of the world on the face and Michael Kors’ signature engraved on the back, along with WATCH HUNGER STOP and the message “1 WATCH = 100 MEALS.” The watches, in styles for both women and men, are sold exclusively in select Michael Kors stores worldwide and online at michaelkors.com and retail for SGD489.

Watch Hunger Stop, established in 2013, raises funds and awareness to help achieve a world with zero hunger. The brand’s partner in the effort is the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and funds go to support WFP’s school meals program. In 2015, Michael Kors was named a Global Ambassador Against Hunger for the United Nations World Food Programme, and this past April he was awarded the McGovern-Dole Leadership Award by WFP USA for his dedicated efforts to highlight and alleviate the crisis of hunger.
