Latitude uses a layer method that provides strength, durability, and flexibility. TUMI’s SRPP Ballistic material, constructed out of a 100% polypropylene composite, is drawn to achieve maximum strength and then woven into a fabric layer. The layers are then consolidated to form sheets, which are placed into a custom press that forms the Latitude shells; the more layers used, the stronger the shell. This type of layered woven material is also used in sporting equipment, personal protection, and within the auto industry.

“With each new collection, TUMI strives to provide our customers with top-of-the-line performance, design and style,” says Creative Director Victor Sanz. “With Latitude, we wanted to create a collection that offers the best of the best in terms of innovation and aesthetic, which pushed us to improve weight, function, durability, organization and more. We are consistently inspired by global citizens on unique journeys.”

TUMI’s Latitude collection was engineered with easy packing in mind. All silhouettes include tie down straps, multiple pockets for increased organization, a hanger bracket, and more. Inside of the Latitude shells are reinforcement rods to provide extra support and rigidity, as well as keep the interior lining in place and maintain a tailored look. All styles also feature integrated low-profile TSA locks, TUMI Tracer®, sturdy, soft-touch top and side handles reinforced with plastic substructures, and a patented X-Brace 45® telescoping handle system crafted from lightweight-yet-sturdy aircraft-grade aluminum. This forms a protective, shock-impact-absorbing structure around the telescoping handle tubes within the case, eliminating damage to the handle system while reducing the overall weight of the case.
